What is an audiologist?
An audiologist is a university trained professional who
specializes in the testing of hearing and rehabilitation
services for hearing impairment. An audiologist’s professional
credential is either a master’s degree or doctor of audiology.
An examination performed by an audiologist will usually consist
of a hearing test using tones and speech in a soundproof booth.
The hearing test will determine the type and extent of hearing loss and,
if necessary, will help guide recommendations for audiologic
rehabilitation.
